This unlikely duo, hailing from vastly different backgrounds, created a musical alchemy that has endured for generations.
2/12 The rock band achieved global success with hit songs and awards. Supertramp experienced a meteoric rise in the 1970s, producing unforgettable hits such as “The Logical Song” and “Goodbye Stranger.” In 1979, their album Breakfast in America took the world by storm, reaching number one on the Billboard charts and winning two Grammy Awards. The album became a progressive rock classic, selling tens of millions of copies worldwide.
3/12 The band members parted ways due to philosophical differences. Despite their success, Davies and Hodgson eventually went their separate ways, leading to Hodgson’s departure in 1983. The split was not caused by animosity but by philosophical differences; Hodgson was drawn to a more spiritual life, while Davies remained rooted in the urban reality of Los Angeles. This split marked a turning point for the band, yet it did not dampen Davies’s determination to keep going.
